My monster-in-law is stirring. She was quiet for a couple months, but I can sense the self-absorbedness gearing up again. She called the other night to ask if she could take E to see a children’s play this weekend. Just E. No mention of K. This makes my blood boil. How does a grandmother so blatantly single out one of her grandchildren. There is no reason why K shouldn’t go. In fact I just took the gilrs to see a children’s play a couple weeks ago. I’m sure the play went over K’s head but she behaved and said she loved it. I mean, how does she think this will make K feel? It’s not like she wouldn’t notice. The MIL wants to pick E up Friday night for the Saturday play. So not only would K be missing out on a sleep over (which they love to do no matter where it is) she’d be missing the play. How is that not hurtful? I can imagine when we push back on her that she’ll say she can’t possibly handle both the girls on her own. For God’s sake woman! They are nearly 5 and 7 years old. What is there to handle?! Of course, it could also go the other way, and she’d be happy to take Kyra. Whatever. The fact that she didn’t include Kyra in the first thought still makes her a bitch. Stay tuned.
